- Author: John Cavicchio

For much of my life, I've had the privilege of doing two things I love: teaching and making music.

Many of you know me from my years teaching Latin and Classical Mythology at RBC. Others know me as an organist, pianist, church musician, or piano teacher. Some of you have known me in more than one of those roles.

Over the years, I've discovered that teaching and music have something wonderful in common: there's always something more to discover. Just when you think you understand a subject or a piece of music, another question presents itself, another connection emerges, or something familiar suddenly takes on an entirely new meaning.

Retirement from RBC has given me an opportunity to bring these interests together in a new way.

I've spent a lifetime learning, teaching, performing, researching, and occasionally wondering about things that probably never occurred to anyone else. Now I'd like to share some of those discoveries, experiences, and ideas with a wider community.

**It's my way of giving back.**

And that's how John Cavicchio Music came about.

## **Four Ways to Explore**

[**The Amazing Hymnal**](https://music.johncavicchio.com/the-answer-is-8-6-8-6/)

What appears to be an ordinary hymnal turns out to contain an extraordinary world of poetry, music, history, human experience, and hidden connections. Together, we'll peel back layer after layer and discover just how much is waiting between those covers.

[**Studio Editions**](https://music.johncavicchio.com/studio-editions/)

Teaching the great works of classical music takes patience, imagination, and a willingness to find new ways of making difficult ideas understandable. Drawing on years of studio experience, I'll share practical insights and approaches that may help fellow teachers bring these remarkable compositions to life for their students.

[**Classical Mythology Through Organ-Eyes**](https://music.johncavicchio.com/classical-mythology-through-organ-eyes/)

What happens when a former Latin and Classical Mythology teacher looks at the ancient myths through the eyes of a church organist and pianist? We may discover that the familiar stories of gods, heroes, and mortals didn't happen quite the way we've always been told.

[**A Collection of Musical Discoveries**](https://music.johncavicchio.com/a-collection-of-musical-discoveries/)

Not every musical curiosity fits neatly into a series, and some of the most interesting discoveries happen unexpectedly. Here we'll explore musical interests, observations, and occasional adventures in music theory, chords, and improvisation—wherever curiosity happens to lead us.

## **An Invitation to Join Me**

One of the great pleasures of teaching has always been the exchange of ideas. A student asks an unexpected question, a colleague offers a different perspective, or someone notices something I've overlooked. Suddenly, we're all learning something new.

I'd like John Cavicchio Music to have that same spirit.

As the publication prepares for its **January 12, 2027 launch**, I'm establishing a community of **Founding Members**—people who enjoy music, appreciate discovery, and might occasionally have a thought or two to contribute.

I think of Founding Members as more than just subscribers. They're people who have a genuine interest in seeing this little venture grow, and whose ideas, encouragement, and suggestions can help shape its future.

No meetings to attend, no responsibilities to take on, and certainly no financial obligations. Just an invitation to be part of something from the very beginning.

Their observations, questions, suggestions, and encouragement will help shape what this publication becomes.

## **What Does Founding Membership Include?**

As a Founding Member, you'll receive **complimentary lifetime membership in John Cavicchio Music, with access to all four series**, including articles that would ordinarily require a paid subscription.

You'll have opportunities to comment on articles, offer constructive feedback, suggest subjects for future exploration, and share your own perspectives. I'll be interested in hearing what you find useful, what surprises you, and what you think might be worth exploring next.

Your Founding Member designation will remain yours permanently.

Participation is entirely up to you. Some people enjoy discussing what they've read. Others prefer to read quietly. Both are equally welcome.

## **So, What's the Catch?**

There really is one, and I'm happy to tell you what it is.

When John Cavicchio Music launches on January 12, I'd rather not begin with an empty room. I'd love to have a community of readers already waiting—people who are interested in what I'm creating and willing to see where it goes.

Simply by becoming a Founding Member, you're helping me accomplish that. Your presence gives this new publication something that no amount of writing, preparation, or planning can provide: a community from the very beginning.

And that means a great deal to me.

So here's my way of saying thank you: **Your Founding Membership is complimentary for life.** No subscription fees, no credit card, and no expiration date.

There's no obligation to contribute or participate regularly. Just knowing you're there, reading and enjoying what I'm creating, is already a wonderful contribution.

And maybe, just maybe, if you enjoy the articles, you'll even share them with a few friends.

That's the catch. You're helping me get started, and I'm thanking you by making you a permanent part of John Cavicchio Music.
